A.A. Reckart

Arnest Allen Reckart is the son of George Ludwig (Lewis) Reckart and Ann E. Lewis Reckart of Preston County, West Virginia.  Aletha Ann Summers Reckart is the daughter of Elisha Summers and Martha Steele Summers of Catawba, West Virginia. They were married on November 24, 1864.

Arnest served on the Union side in the Civil War in Company A, 7th Regiment, Infantry.  He was wounded in his left thigh above the knee and died from complications of that war injury on August 2, 1888 at the age of 56.  Grandmother Aletha died on May 2, 1917.  They made their home on Reckart Mountain just above the Reckart School, located about two miles south of Cuzzart on the Cuzzart to Cranesville Road.

Children born to Arnest and Aletha were: Martha Ann Reckart, Charles Wilmington Reckart, Elisha Summers Reckart, Rheua Virginia Reckart, Jonathan Leroy Reckart, Isaac Benjamin Reckart, Andrew Allen Reckart, Sylvester Clyde Reckart, and Staley Garfield Reckart.

The first Reckart to America of this clan was Ernest Augustus Reckart from Minden, Germany and arrived at Portsmouth New Hampshire on December 1, 1777 in the company of and with General Frederick William Von Steuben.  He married the lovely Elizabeth Standle of Morristown, New Jersey. The rest of the genealogy is in the Reckart Family Tree Book including some Reckart family history in Germany.

Add your family to the Reckart pictures.  Send them in.

The Reckart Genealogy has been compiled by Gary Paul Reckart, Sr and has taken several years. There are several who were missed in the last edition.  Be included in the next one.  Send in your family information. The first true Reckart Family Tree Book was published in 1995 and all copies were sold.  There are plans to make another edition which will include pictures sometime in the year 1999, hopefully before Christmas.  If you would like references on the past edition those can be sent upon request.  This genealogy is a true genealogy and not the junk from Bath, Ohio who are selling a phone list along with some filler pages.

I am now gathering pictures and updated family information on Reckart genealogy and related families through marriage.  If you would like your family information included in the new edition it is necessary to hear from you. Click the e-mail link below and send me a note of your desires.

Sincerely,

Gary
